Ziad Kamel & Patrick Cochrane have been business partners since 2003 and started their partnership by founding and organizing New Year’s Eve events in the famous Sursock Palais in Ashrafieh for four years. In 2005, Ziad & Patrick founded The Alleyway Group and established their first company which went on to launch two popular nightspots in Beirut: the first being Gauche Caviar, shortly followed by Cloud 9. Capitalizing on the success of their first two ventures, Ziad and Patrick moved on to develop The Alleyway. After over two years of renovation, The Alleyway emerged from a rundown, dilapidated area into a small yet beautifully picturesque.... alleyway! Discreetly nestled in the heart of Gemmayze, what has become the hottest nightspot in Beirut with an endless collection of dark haunts and trendy bars, The Alleyway brings together a diverse selection of outlets: Couqley (named after the bistro's French chef Alexis Couquelet) specializes in great food, Gauche Caviar and The Angry Monkey focus on nightlife entertainment, The Union offers a trendy shopping experience and last but not least, The Tanning Salon is a year round must for the "always tanned" crowd... The Alleyway Group went on to develop and operate a French restaurant named Amarres on the Beirut Waterfront Marina in Zaitunay Bay until 2013. With Couqley’s second branch successfully launched in Dbayeh (Lebanon), The Alleyway Group is now focusing on expanding the Couqley brand throughout the Middle East.
